The Meghalaya chapter of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) will stand in solidarity with the parent body, which took a decision yesterday to protest violence against doctors in the country by wearing black tomorrow.
Doctors will wear black badges, black shirts or ties on June 15 and then again on June 18 to create public awareness and to press for stronger state and central laws to protect healthcare workers, who, IMA Meghalaya vice-president Dr Bernard Lyngdoh Ryntathiang said today, are working “under the most trying circumstances despite inherent limitations of the healthcare system.”
Members of a few large state chapters are also going to close down outpatient services on June 18, although emergency services will continue.
