The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) apprehended 15 non-Khasi labourers while they were on their way to work in Mawshbuit. All 15 were travelling together in one vehicle, despite Covid-19 protocols.
The labourers, reportedly from Assam and Bihar, are staying in Umphyrnai and the vehicle they were travelling in had a Power Grid pass to travel during curfew.
The KSU urged companies and individuals not to violate the Covid protocols and also urged contractors not to bring labourers from outside Meghalaya to work in the state during the current situation.
