Employees of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) under the banner of the Non Gazzetted Employees Association (NGEA) filed a complaint today against the superintendent and executive engineer of the council’s Civil Works Department after they allegedly stole office files.
An FIR was filed by NGEA members and other GHADC employees against Sukumar Marak (SE) and Niksang Momin (EE) accusing them of stealing the paperwork this morning.
The NGEA has been agitating over unpaid salaries and the council’s offices have been shut as a result.
It is alleged that the files taken by the two individuals relate to the preparation of contractors’ bills. The complainants were of the opinion that possession of these documents would help in the falsification of bills and cause a loss to the ailing GHADC.
Because of today’s incident, the NGEA resolved, unanimously, to prevent the entry of GHADC staff into the building in order to prevent a recurrence.
