Meghalaya a non- Panchayati Raj Institution state has been acknowledged for its active role in the implementation of Village Level Development Plan (VLDP).
On the occasion of Panchayati Raj Day on Saturday, one of the Village Employment Council (VEC), Mylliem Mawiong VEC of Mylliem Community & Rural Development Block was awarded with the Gram Panchayat Development Plan Award 2021.
During the occasion, the Minister for Community and Rural Development department Hamletson Dohling, handed over the plaque and the certificate to the functionaries of the VEC.
A cash amount of Rs. 500,000 has been also awarded to the VEC
The awardee VEC showed tremendous performance over the past four years and their active participation in other programmes such as MGNREGA, PMAY-G, NSAP, DDU-GKY besides the implementation of VLDP was appreciated.
313 Panchayati Raj Institutions and Village Councils were recognised for their efforts in various programmes i.e. DDUPSP, NDRGGSP, GPDPA and CFPGA.
Observing of the National Panchayati Raj Day a virtual event was held wherein the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Minister of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Narendra Singh Tomar addressed the nation through online platform.
During the programme, distribution of National Panchayat Awards under different categories to better performing Panchayats and Village Councils, launching of nationwide SWAMITVA Scheme and distribution of e-Property cards to 4.09 lakhs property owner in seven States were electronically distributed by the Prime Minister.
