EKH DC lists 31 shops to close down amid rise in Covid cases

Shillong, Apr 22: The East Khasi Hills district administration has listed 31 shops and vendors that will remain closed from April 26 to May 3 in view of the rapid rise of COVID-19 cases in the district and Shillong urban agglomeration, including whole of Municipal area, whole of Cantonment area, all areas under Mawlai C&RD Block including Census Towns, Mawpat C&RD Block including Census Towns, Mylliem C&RD Block from Umshyrpi Bridge upto 7th Mile, Upper Shillong including Madanrting, Mawblei, Laitkor, Nongkseh, Umlyngka and Lawsohtun.
The shops include, Computer Stores and their Repair shops, Stationery and Book Stalls, Automobile Showrooms and Car Wash Units, Gift shops, Furniture shops, Photo Studios, Clothes and garments, Musical Instruments, Textiles, Sports Equipment including Cycle shops, Tailoring shops, Dry Cleaners, Footwear, Bridal Shop, Ornaments, Toy shops, Home Appliances, Sewing, Craft and Novelty shops, Home Furnishing, Flower shops, Mattress and Quilt shops, Emporiums, Electronic Items, Nail Salons, Kitchen appliances including crockery, etc, Tattoo studios, Watches and Clocks, Spas, Dance Studios, Driving schools and Cosmetic shops.
Meanwhile in a separate order, the district magistrate has also ordered closure of all bars, clubs, cinema halls, salons, beauty parlors, yoga institutes, gymnasiums, cyber cafes, gaming parlours and swimming pools from April 23 to April 30 in Shillong urban agglomeration.
According to the order, all Incident Commanders, Zonal Magistrates will carry out inspection and ensure strict compliance to the order by all concerned and any violation will be met with strict action under the Meghalaya Epidemic Diseases, COVID-19 Regulations, 2020.
