The East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner (Supply) has warned open market traders against hoarding of essential commodities.
In a statement today, the DC said order has been given to traders so that it will not lead to panic buying and artificial shortage.
Informing that due to the increase in prices of essential commodities at source and based on the challans considering the freight and other charges till Shillong, the DC said the wholesale and retail prices of rice common, sugar, masoor dal, gram dal, mustard oil, edible oil, sunflower oil and potato has been re-fixed as on April 21.
“Essential commodities should not exceed the rates as fixed by the office. Stern action will be taken against defaulters,” the DC warned.
The DC further urged consumers not to resort to panic buying.
