An awareness program “Agriculture as bio-entrepreneurship career options for unemployed youths and graduate students” was held at the College of Agriculture, Kyrdemkulai recently.
Organised by the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences (NAAS), Regional Chapter-Barapani about students from Veterinary College, Aizawl, Nongstoin College, West Khasi Hills, College of Agriculture, Kyrdemkulai and CPGS, Umiam, Meghalaya, rural youths and progressive farmers of the region took part.
Indian Meteorological Department Director General Dr. Mrutyunjay Mohapatra attended the programme as the chief guest and motivated students to adopt agriculture as bio entrepreneurship option.
Eminent speakers delivered the lectures on various aspects of bio-entrepreneurship. NAAS, New Delhi under the leadership of Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, President, NAAS and his team are making many such efforts in this direction for benefiting the students and rural youth. The Convener of the NAAS Regional Chapter-Barapani, Dr. U.K. Behera, Dean, College of Agriculture, Meghalaya played a vital leadership role to organise such event as chairman of the programme.
Dr. I. Mawthoh, Principal, Nongstoiñ College chaired the technical session.
Dr. Behera delivered lecture on “Agriculture as bio-entrepreneurship career options for unemployed youths and graduate students” as key speaker. Overall, the event developed a roadmap for adopting agriculture as bio-entrepreneurship career options for unemployed youths and graduate students.
The program infused various innovative ideas in the mind of researchers, students and farmers to adopt agriculture as a bio entrepreneurship option.
Officers from line Department of Agriculture, NABARD, Shillong, NGOs, corporate managers, Progressive farmers, Head of Department, professors from CPGSAS, Umiam, Dean, college of agriculture, Kyrdemkulai were also present at the programme.
