The foundation stone laying function for the upgrade from Sub-Centre to Primary Health Centre in Mylliem Umthlong was held today, with Health and Family Welfare Minister AL Hek as the chief guest.
The upgrades will be completed with 18 months at a cost of Rs 7.92 crore, Hek said at the gathering.
He laid special emphasis on the medical facilities provided for pregnant women and urged regular checkups in order to have healthy children and also to protect against complications during delivery.
Community and Rural Development Minister Hamlet Dohling expressed happiness over the upgrade of the Sub-Centre to PHC, which has been a long pending dream of the people of Mylliem Umthlong and its neighboring villages.
Others who spoke during the day were Director of Health Services Dr Aman Warr and other officials.
