The Non Gazetted Employees Association (NGEA) of the GHADC will hold a rally tomorrow to find a resolution to their woes which include clearance of salaries due to them prior to the upcoming GHADC elections while also asking for the payment of Rs 55 crore that is due from the State government to the Council.
The decision to hold a peaceful rally was made after a meeting between the association members of the various GHADC departments, with permission being given by the district administration, asking for COVID protocols to be strictly maintained during the rally.
“The employees of the GHADC have decided to abstain from the upcoming GHADC elections on April 9. This comes as a result of the inaction of the state government in releasing the Rs 55 crore owed as royalty to the GHADC. The money could have paid the salaries of employees for at least 8-9 months,” said president of the NGEA, Senora Johny Arengh.
GHADC employees have remained unpaid for close to 30 months now.
“We are not against the holding of the GHADC election which is through constitutional mandate. We are unhappy with the government on how the salary situation of the GHADC has been handled as well as the non release of the royalty owed to GHADC,” added joint secretary, Flaming Marak.
The NGEA further requested that the GHADC employees not be asked to perform election duties due to the current impasse and until their demands are met by the government.
