The State government has decided to set up a task force which will ensure the cleanliness and beautification of Golf Links – a major tourist spot of the city.
This decision was taken on Saturday, in a meeting chaired by East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner, Isawanda Laloo in the presence of Health Minister, Alexander Laloo Hek held at the Shillong Golf Club.
In the meeting it was decided that the task force will be responsible to make workable action plans for short term and long term goals.
Since, Golf Links attracts lots of visitors both locals and tourists, and the place is littered with wastes, the task force will have to devise a mechanism for efficient and sustainable measures for cleanliness and waste management.
The meeting also resolved for realigning the existing road to conserve the golf course. This would also ensure viable alternative spaces for commuters and tourists, walkways and cycling pathways, recreational facilities, spaces for parking and vending.
The meeting also resolved to address issues of congestion, traffic and parking and anti social activities around Golf Links.
