Three days after being kidnapped by a gang of criminals, a betel nut trader from Assam who was abducted from Rongara managed to escape the clutches of his abductors.
Noor Mohammaed, was apparently abducted by a gang while he was on his way to a plantation to trade on betel nut. He, along with the vehicle he was in went missing near the village of Karukol.
After his apparent abduction, South Garo Hills police launched a rescue operation to ensure the safe release of the victim. Two people allegedly involved in the kidnapping were arrested by the police yesterday near Baghmara with more inputs of the people involved in the incident coming to light.
“We are on the lookout for the rest of the gang that we believe were involved in the abduction and such more details are not available. The victim, Mohammed is safe and sound after his escape from the gang near Rongara. Our investigation into the matter is currently on,” Superintendent of Police, Priyangshu Pandey said.
Mohammed is a resident of the town of Mankachar in the South Salmara district of Assam and was last seen near the town of Baghmara before his abduction.
Police confirmed the victim was currently safe after his escape this morning.
