Doing the entire state proud, an eight-year-old from the border town of Tikrikilla in West Garo Hills, finished third in the grand finale of Assam’s Got Talent Season 5, which concluded on Christmas Day.
Begun Ali Sha Islam is a Class 3 student at St Mary’s Public School and had always been an avid fan of dancing and singing.
“Our daughter expressed interest in dancing and singing. Seeing her interest in the art, we encouraged her to participate in various competitions in the local as well as regional level. Seeing that she wanted to participate on a larger platform, we included her name in the auditions to Assam’s Got Talent,” said a proud father, Azizul Islam.
The parents’ joy knew no bounds after their child was selected via an audition before joining the main competition in Guwahati.
“She performed well in the competition and through the blessings of all managed to get the second runners-up prize from the competition. We are still to get over the feeling of elation from what she has achieved at such a young age,” added the father.
The eight-year-old was presented with a cheque of Rs 5,000, trophy and will receive a scholarship.
“We have bigger dreams for her now and want her to be part of the national dance and singing talent competitions, including India’s Got Talent and Dance Fight, which are likely to be held in January. We are proud parents and hope she achieves much more in the future as well,” added a beaming Islam.
