The executive body of the Non-Gazetted Employees Association (NGEA) of Garo Hills Autonomous District Council has stated that it was ready prove its corruption charge against the Secretary to the GHADC Rikse R. Marak.
“Sending legal notice to the leader of the NGEA is nothing new as she had been torturing and harassing the employees and leaders of the NGEA since from the day we have demonstrated our demand for our legal right to release our salary. She had been issuing various show cause, repeatedly conducting inquiry against the leader of the NGEAs on the pretext of non-registration of NGEA and many others,” the NGEA said.
It also said that the GHADC Secretary is sending legal notice, lodging FIR against the leader of the NGEA with the sole object and malafide intention to suppress the employees and to hide her misdeed.
“We will prove our case and we are ready to go to jail if we are found guilty of doing any wrong,” the NGEA said.
Rejecting Marak’s allegations that NGEA leaders are trying to destroy the property of GHADC, the NGEA said it welcome the investigation on her FIR against them.
“Does she have any proof or material evidence to show that we are instigating the employees of GHADC to damage the property of GHADC? We want to send the message to her, to the public and to MDA government that we are hungry and frustrated. When you are hungry you can’t think and act properly, therefore there may be irregularities in following the protocol of Covid-19 when we were doing our demonstration on December 14 and for that reason we apologise to the Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills if we had unintentionally failed to follow the protocol issued by the district administration,” the NGEA said.
The NGEA has been protesting in the offices of the GHADC, seeking the removal of the Secretary as well as the payment of three months’ salary at the fifth pay scale. It may be noted that GHADC employees have not been paid for the last 32 months.
