The Hill Farmers Union (HFU) will celebrate the Meghalaya Farmers’ Day on December 4.
This will be the first celebration for the farmers after the State government made an announcement last year to recognise the day.
In a press release today, HFU president Commander Shangpliang said that December 4 is significant as it was on this day that the first-ever farmers’ parliament was held in the state last year.
Shangpliang further informed that the union will also recognise those farmers who have been awarded by the state and central governments and other hard working farmers. He also urged farmers to contact the respective presidents or secretaries of the central body, districts, blocks, circles and units or call 8837287374/9366601874 for further information.
