The office of the South West Khasi Hills District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) will organise a week-long National Deworming Day programme from October 12 to 19.
Deworming tablets will be distributed during the programme at session sites and Anganwadi centres in the district.
The DMHO, Dr R Lartang, urged parents, caregivers, community leaders, teachers, Anganwadi workers and other frontline health workers to take an active part in the programme as worms can lead to anaemia, nutritional impairment, appetite loss, weakness, stomach ache, nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea.
Covid-19 protocols will be strictly adhered to during the programme.
National Deworming Day aims at helping children from one to 19 years old to become worm-free. The deworming tablets will be distributed free of cost at session sites and Anganwadi Centres.
