What has MDA Govt done in two and half years: Ampareen

Senior Congress legislator Ampareen Lyngdoh has sought to know what the present MDA government has done in the last two and a half years.
“I am not opposing the government just because I am in the opposition. I want to know what good has this government done in this period,” Lyngdoh said.
She said that when the new government took over issues like Inner Line Permit (ILP) cropped up and there were curfew and rallies and now there is the Covid-19 pandemic.
“I am yet to see the government doing anything good in any sector,” the Shillong East MLA said.
She also said that recently, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and his colleagues went to Delhi in the midst of a pandemic when in the present day and age one can use technology to reach out to people.
“Despite going there that they did not take up issues of the people with the Centre, like ILP, Eight Schedule and even the issue of the State not getting its share of GST revenues and restoring the 90:10 ratio of centrally sponsored schemes,” Lyngdoh said.
She also said that with the surge in Covid-19 cases, the State government should have demanded more funds from the Centre to fight the pandemic.
The Congress legislator also said that now even health workers are beginning to get infected by the virus.
“It is beginning to attack all around. We have to be very aggressive and the system should be prepared,” Lyngdoh said.
The Shillong East MLA also expressed concern over the frequent transfer of government officials.
She said that officers in the police department, the State Secretariat or in the Deputy Commissioner offices are changed at will.
Lyngdoh while stating that frequent transfer of officers causes discontinuity, said, “There should be stability in governance.”
