South Shillong MLA, Sanbor Shullai yesterday laid two foundation stones for implementation of the Additional Water Supply Scheme for Wahjalynnoh Water Source up to Oxford Hill, Dunoon Compound, Rilbong and adjoining areas sanctioned under PHE Water Supply State Scheme amounting to Rs. 1,03,59,000 and Additional Water Supply Scheme from Wahjalynnoh Water Source to Oxford Hills, Kench’s Trace, Rilbong and adjoining areas sanctioned under Central Scheme of PHE Department and Municipal Board amounting Rs. 1,19,77,390.
Speaking on the occasion, Shullai assured that the implementation of the project will be immediately started without any delay.
“I want this project to be completed at the earliest so that will be a big blessing for the people,” he said.
Shullai also lauded the efforts put on by the officials of the PHE Department and Shillong Municipal Board and the active participation by the Dorbar Shnong of Kench’s Trace, Oxford & Rilbong and the land owners who have parted off their land free of cost.
He also expressed his gratefulness to the Chief Minister, Urban Affairs Minister and PHE Minister for their support and cooperation.
Shullai informed that the implementation of the water supply project will address the problem related to the shortage of the water supply in these areas. He said that the project will cover around 1000 households.
The programme was chaired by Glanding Lyngdoh headman of Kench’s Trace, Oxford & Rilbong. Also present were members of Seng Treilang Ki Kynthei and members of Seng Samla of Kench’s Trace, Oxford & Rilbong.
The programme was also attended by W Nongbri Executive Engineer of PHE (GSWS), Eddie Binan Assistant Executive Engineer of Shillong Municipal Board, Ricky Shullai Co-Chairman of MTDC, and functionaries of the MCIC 19 South Shillong Constituency.
