Shillong, Sep 16 : The Transport Department has revoked the odd-even arrangement for vehicles plying outside of the Shillong Urban Agglomeration with effect from today.
The rule was introduced in June as a preventive measure to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the state. Under the arrangement,
movement of vehicles was restricted to odd and even numbers on alternate days.
However, the rule will still be in effect in the state capital. It will also apply to vehicles entering Shillong from other parts of the state. Long-distance buses on long routes within Meghalaya will also continue to be exempted from the odd-even arrangement.
The rule also does not apply to vehicles with the requisite passes.
