Tura, Jul 3: The Phulbari unit of the Anti Corruption and Human Development Organisation (ACHDO) has sought the immediate repair of the Phulbari-Dadenggre road which they said is in terrible state.
The complaint follows that of the Garo Students’ Union (GSU) which had earlier raised the same matter with Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, even going as far as dubbing the road a nightmare for travelers.
“The road is very important for the people of Phulbari and the people of West Garo Hills as it is used by many to transport goods between the people of the hills and the plain people. However, due to the poor nature of the road, it has become a nightmare,” said the president of the unit, Rassel Choudhary.
The NGO added that the situation is worse in the rainy season and that the need for repairs is immediate.
“The PWD needs to immediately get down to repairing the road as it has become a nightmare for commuters. If they care for the people of the State, the road will get more attention and repairs will be undertaken,” added Choudhary.
