Shillong, Nov 6: East Khasi Hills Police have appealed to the public for information on a hit-and-run incident at SD Khongwir Junction, Mawlai Iewrynghep, which was widely circulated on social media.
According to the police press release, the incident occurred on November 1 at around 11:22 pm, when a Bolero pick-up collided with an oncoming two-wheeler (scooty) and fled the scene without stopping. The rider is seen getting back on his feet in the video, but the nature and extent of injuries, if any, remain unknown.
Police said the incident has not been reported to the Traffic Branch so far.
Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem has appealed to the victim/rider or anyone having knowledge of the victim’s identity or any other information to come forward and share details with the office of the SP / Mawlai Traffic Branch at 69093 96417 / 60091 96479, to initiate legal proceedings against the vehicle and its driver.
Police have assured that the identity of any person providing information will be kept strictly confidential.
