Shillong, Oct 31: Meghalaya put on another compact performance in the field to defeat Nagaland by 12 runs in their fourth Senior Women’s T20 Trophy 2026-27 plate group match in Sovima, Nagaland, today.
Nagaland won the toss and chose to field first, with Meghalaya restricted to 90/7 in their 20 overs. It was a low total but a defendable one as the hosts were then kept down to just 78/5 in their allotted overs.
This was Meghalaya’s third win in four games and the third Player of the Match award for captain Debasmita Dutta.
Opening the batting with Luiza Tamang (12), Debasmita made 33 from 48 balls (3x4s). Monica Lyngdoh Phawa did well coming in at No. 4, hitting an unbeaten 24 from 28 deliveries (2x4s).
In the chase, the hosts lost openers Najmeen Khatun (5) and Talirenla Pongen (7) cheaply but Sentilemla Imsong (26 not out) anchored the innings but there was a lack of support further down the order and, despite having five wickets in hand, there were well short of the target.
Four of the five Meghalaya bowlers used claimed at least a wicket – Neha Hajong took 2/11, with one each for Ajima Sangma (1/8), Debasmita (1/20) and Inda Kharwanniang (1/21).
Meghalaya will now play their final group match against Mizoram on Monday.
