Nongpoh, Oct 16: Ri-Bhoi College today honoured 65 students who completed their undergraduate studies at a graduation ceremony held on the college premises.
Nongpoh MLA Mayralborn Syiem attended the programme as the chief guest, in the presence of college Principal E Kharkongor, faculty members of Ri-Bhoi College and Northern Ri-Bhoi College, along with students.
During the ceremony, two special awards were also presented to recognise academic excellence. The DD Lapang Meritorious Award was awarded to Amanda Kharwanlang of the English Department, while the RI Masharing Excellence Award went to Lisha Lyngdoh, also from the English Department.
Addressing the gathering, Syiem said the ceremony brought back memories of his own student days.
He also highlighted the significant contribution of Ri-Bhoi College to the educational development of students in the region, recalling the vision of the late DD Lapang, the former Chief Minister, in establishing the institution to provide future generations with greater access to education and opportunities for a brighter future.
