Shillong, Oct 8: The Meghalaya Teacher Training Academy (MTTA) and Bharti Airtel Foundation on Thursday signed an MoU to strengthen continuous professional development of teachers in the state through ‘TheTeacherApp’.
The ceremony was held at the Main Secretariat and chaired by Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui.
Commissioner & Secretary Education Vijay Kumar Mantri, MTTA Director Jacqueline Una Kharpuri, Bharti Airtel Foundation COO Binu Nair and Regional Head Kumar Ashutosh attended the programme.
Through the free-for-life platform, teachers in Meghalaya will get access to self-paced courses, expert-led webinars, AI-powered tools for lesson planning and assessment, question banks and classroom resource repositories. Built on two decades of field experience and aligned with NEP 2020, the platform also offers peer collaboration through Teachers’ Lounge.
The app currently reaches over 3.25 lakh users across all 36 States and UTs in partnership with NITI Aayog and state governments.
Rymbui said empowering teachers through continuous learning is central to improving school education and technology-enabled platforms like TheTeacherApp will provide accessible and need-based resources.
Binu Nair said teachers play a pivotal role in shaping children’s future and the foundation is grateful to the Meghalaya government and MTTA for collaboration in advancing teacher development.
