Shillong, Oct 1: The Department of Applied Biology, USTM, in collaboration with the Microbiologists Society, India and Federation of European Microbiological Societies (FEMS), concluded International Microorganisms Day and a national workshop on academic writing and scholarly publications on Thursday.
The workshop, which began on September 17, focused on strengthening academic writing, research communication and publication skills of PG students, research scholars and early-career researchers.
Experts deliberated on scientific writing, manuscript preparation, publication ethics, journal selection and scholarly communication, with hands-on practical sessions.
Resource persons included Prof. Tapan Kumar Mohanta, Saudi Arabia, Dr. Vinay Kumar Pandey, Graphic Era Dehradun, Dr. P. Periasamy, Nehru Group of Institutions, Coimbatore and Dr. Bishwambhar Mishra, CBIT Hyderabad. Jibanjyoti Panda was a Master Trainer.
Students and scholars from Assam Royal Global University, Cotton University and USTM participated. A Poster and Model Competition was also held.
