Khliehriat, Sep 30: A day after its East Jaintia Hills District President Mihsalan Thoo died in a suspected hit-and-run case, the Hynñiewtrep Youth Development Council (HYDC) has filed an FIR with the East Jaintia Hills Superintendent of Police demanding a thorough probe.
Thoo was killed on the morning of September 29 on the National Highway at Lad Jyliah in Mookhep.
In its complaint, HYDC urged police to verify the cause of the accident, examine CCTV footage near the spot to identify the vehicle and ascertain the exact time of the incident.
Meanwhile, the mortal remains of Thoo were laid to rest with honours today at the cemetery in Rymbai village.
HYDC Central Executive Council President Wyraiwan Sohtun and other members of the organisation were present.
Speaking at the condolence meeting at Thoo’s residence in Rymbai, Sohtun recalled his journey as a leader of HYDC in East Jaintia Hills and conveyed condolences to his mother and bereaved family.
