Shillong, Sep 28: Nongkseh easily defeated Sawmer 3-0 in their Shillong Premier League 2026 match at the SSA Stadium here today.
Kitboklang Pale (30’), Mebankhraw Wahlang (37’) and Hardy Cliff Nongbri (88’) were the scorers for Nongkseh, who moved to third place with their third win in a row.
Nongkseh now have 13 points from seven games and have risen above Mawlai (12 from six). Sawmer, meanwhile, remain in sixth place on 9 points.
Sawmer looked intent on minimising the damage from this game and for the first half an hour they did not let Nongkseh through. But there was nothing they could do to stop Kitboklang, who met a long ball by chesting it down and then beat Khrawkupar Tamu before striking a wonderful left-footer.
A few minutes later Nongkseh doubled their lead. A corner delivered by Hardy was met at the far post by Mebankhraw, who headed the ball in.
Sawmer’s Pyrshangbanbha Dkhar has been guilty of some howlers in goal this season but he made real efforts today and pulled off two good saves in the remaining minutes of the first half to keep Nongkseh from running away with the game.
After changing ends, Chesterpaul Lyngdoh and Shano Tariang both sent efforts wide for Nongkseh. However, Hardy was able to score after Kitboklang ran with the ball into the box, cut it back for his captain, who placed the ball low into the back of the net.
Sawmer’s best effort in all this came in the 70th minute when Wanshanlang Dkhar’s long-range free-kick cannoned into the crossbar.
Tomorrow fourth-placed Mawlai will have a tough contest when they take on fifth-placed Meghalaya Police at 3pm.
