Shillong, Sep 26: East Khasi Hills District has reconstituted the local committee for implementation of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013.
As per the notification, Nodal Officers are the Block Development Officers of all the 11 C& RD blocks.
The committee will be chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner Dalikynti Kharshiing with Ebhamiki War Pakyntein, Law Officer of Shillong Municipal Board, Mayfereen Ryntathiang, President of Grassroot Shillong, and Rebina Subba, Founder-Chairperson of Shamakami NGO.
The ex-officio members are Dr. Shannon N. Sangma, Assistant Commissioner and Olivia C. Nongbri, District Social Welfare Officer.
The committee will receive complaints of sexual harassment from establishments where the Internal Committee has not been constituted due to having less than ten workers or where the complaint is against the employer himself.
The chairperson and members shall hold office for a period not exceeding three years from the date of appointment, the notification said.
