Shillong, Sep 25: The 30th September 2005 Victims’ Solidarity Forum will hold the 21st memorial service of Martyrs’ Day on September 30 at the Memorial Cenotaph in Tura.
In a statement, General Secretary Wilver Greham Danggo said the memorial service will honour those who lost their lives during the MBoSE agitation on September 30, 2005.
Danggo has invited parents, elders and youth to attend and show unity.
The forum has requested all shops, markets and businesses, excluding pharmacies, to remain closed from 12 noon to 3 pm as a mark of mourning and appealed to schools and colleges to declare a half-day holiday. It also appealed to auto-rickshaw drivers and private vehicle owners to display a black flag as a sign of solidarity.
“This is a monumental and unforgettable day for us, and we must ensure that our future children and grandchildren also remember and carry this legacy forward,” Danggo said.
