Shillong, Sep 24: Three men were convicted for offences under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act 1985 and sentenced to four years’ imprisonment.
Dinald Syndor, Kitboklang Thawbri and Ryngkatlang Kharbuli were found guilty by Special Judge (NDPS) E Shabong on September 15, according to a press release issued by police today.
The case was registered at Mawlai Police Station in 2024.
All three were sentenced to four years’ rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs 40,000 each (or an extra three months detention in default).
They were convicted under Section 21b (which deals with intermediate quantity of drugs), Sec 27a (financing illegal drug traffic or harbouring offenders) and Sec 29 (abetment and criminal conspiracy) of the NDPS.
