Shillong, Sep 16: The Health Department has issued the Combined Counselling SOP for MBBS admissions 2026-27, covering 138 seats to be allotted through the Meghalaya State Counselling Authority (MSCAMA) on a single NEET-UG 2026 merit list.
The fresh SOP follows the government’s decision to set aside the Round-1 allotment after the Jaintia Students’ Union flagged lack of transparency and ambiguities in the earlier SOP issued on July 31, 2026. In a speaking order on Tuesday, Commissioner and Secretary Dr Joram Beda ordered a fresh counselling and uniform choice-filling exercise, holding that correction of isolated allotments would not suffice.
Of the 138 seats, 96 seats under Part I comprise 53 Central Pool seats, 14 at NEIGRIHMS, 16 at RIMS Imphal, 10 in Assam government medical colleges and three in Tripura, with 39 seats each reserved for Khasi-Jaintia and Garo categories, 14 unreserved and four for SC/OST.
The remaining 42 state quota seats at Shillong Medical College, out of 50 sanctioned by the NMC with eight under All-India Quota, will follow the state reservation policy of 40 per cent each for Khasi-Jaintia and Garo, 15 per cent unreserved and five per cent SC/OST.
Counselling will be held in four rounds including stray vacancy, with online registration and physical document verification and a verified institution-wise and category-wise seat matrix to be published before counselling.
The order clarifies no candidate’s eligibility, NEET rank or category status will be adversely affected by setting aside the earlier allotment.
State-quota graduates must execute a bond and complete five years of mandatory service in government or recognised mission hospitals.
