Shillong, Sep 16: Meghalaya Rajya Sabha MP James Pangsang Kongkal Sangma has been nominated as a special invitee to the Joint Parliamentary Committee examining the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026.
The nomination was made by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, the Lok Sabha Secretariat.
The 31-member JPC, chaired by BJP MP Dr Sanjay Jaiswal, has been tasked to submit its report by the last day of the first week of the Winter Session, 2026.
Its first sitting is scheduled for Sept 18 in New Delhi, where the Ministry of Home Affairs will brief members.
Welcoming the nomination, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said it ensures Meghalaya and the Christian community’s perspectives on religious and civil society organisations are heard in the deliberations.
