Shillong, Sep 15: The Department of Engineering and Technology, University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM), observed the National Engineers’ Day 2026 on Tuesday to mark the birth anniversary of Sir M Visvesvaraya.
The programme, themed ‘Smart Engineering for a Sustainable Future through Innovation and Digitalisation’, was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) A.C. Kataki, Director, Medical Administration, PA Sangma International Medical College and Hospital, USTM.
Dr Shyamal Baruah, Chief General Manager, HR, Oil India Limited, Noida, spoke on ‘From RIGS to HR’, sharing insights on career growth and adaptability.
Students from USTM and other institutions took part in the Engineering Model Competition, Poster Competition, AI Innovation Challenge and Robo Soccer Competition. The events were judged by Dr Satyajit Das, Dr Tanmay Dutta and Dr Santu Kar, assistant professors from IIT Guwahati.
