Shillong, Sep 7: The Garo Hills Deficit School Teachers and Employees Association (GHDSTEA) has opposed introduction of Structured Pay Framework for future appointments in deficit schools, warning it will create unequal pay for same work.
President Dr Brian Sengsrang Ch Marak said deficit teachers have enjoyed parity with government employees, but under SPF new recruits will get lower pay and fewer benefits despite the same duties.
Terming it grave injustice, he said talented youth will not join the profession if it lacks financial security and dignity, and quality of education will suffer.
The association has demanded withdrawal of notification, saying reforms must strengthen the teaching profession.
