Shillong, Aug 22: CAU-KVK, South Garo Hills under ICAR-ATARI, Zone-VII, Umiam organised a five-day skill training on ‘Scientific Production Technology of Mushroom Cultivation for Sustainable Income Generation’ from August 17-21.
Twenty-five rural youth from different villages attended the programme.
Principal Scientist & Head, KVK, Dr A Haribhushan emphasised use of spent mushroom substrate for vermicomposting to enhance income and encouraged adoption of mushroom cultivation as a year-round enterprise.
Course Coordinator and SMS (Plant Protection) Dr Tanya R Marak delivered lectures and practical sessions on scientific mushroom production.
Training manuals, certificates and mushroom spawn were distributed to participants.
