Shillong, Aug 4: Meghalaya PHE Minister Marcuise Marak on Tuesday met Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Patil and expressed gratitude for the approval of ₹336.62 crore under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) 2.0 for the financial year 2026–27.
The funding will support the implementation of JJM 2.0 in Meghalaya and facilitate the clearance of at least one-third of pending bills owed to JJM contractors, Marak said.
Further instalments are expected to be released in due course to ensure the timely and effective implementation of the mission in the state, he added.
The minister said Meghalaya’s reform-linked sustainability initiatives under JJM and its efforts to ensure safe and clean drinking water were also appreciated during the meeting.
Marak also sought the Union Minister’s support for the Resubelpara Water Supply Scheme, which is aimed at providing a reliable, safe and sustainable water supply to the people of Resubelpara.
