Editor,
Regarding the delayed justice for Assistant Architect post, facts be told that the appointments will never happen because the blue-eyed officer of the Urban Affairs loves outside consultants more than our local unemployed youth. Little info gathering reveals that this Department is being run by a triad of officers i.e. the above boss, the Director and a retired SE (duly blessed and sprinkled of course) who has been given a 3 months extension twice over after his superannuation in last January because he is Supremely Exceptional and there are already talks that he will be given another extension of 3 months more soon. The justification given is that there are no eligible/competent officers to look after the projects. Are there no more officers in the Department as efficient as him or is it as the quote goes “Power Corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely”. How indispensable has he become to the Triad or is it like a stool without the third leg? BTW, during these extensions, officers have already retired after him or will be doing so very soon. With regards to the second leg of the stool, the lesser said the better. About the first leg (blue eyed officer), it was learnt that he made a remark that it is better to have contractual employees (lesser salary) rather than regular employees to save money (not only in the UA but other Departments also). Question that arises is – So is he paying the consultants this way by depriving our local youths? Again, with the continuation of service of a retired SE and the non-appointment of Asst Architects/Engineers, blocking vacancies and other posts across many departments, does it not have a direct bearing on the age bar of the local youths by the time MPSC advertises the posts? With such an attitude and ego, Urban Affairs stinks as far as the stink of Marten gets, hence it needs to be purged right from the top and the washing machine dried out at the earliest.
