Shillong, Jul 17: Members of the Khasi Students Union (KSU) Shillong Mihngi circle on Friday shut down a mosque, which they say was illegally constructed at 4th Forlong, here.
The members were led by KSU organising committee Cleenstar Shabong.
According to KSU, the Masjid was built without valid documents or permission from the concerned authorities in a land owned by an outsider identified as Nurul Choudhary.
In a statement, the KSU said that the structure will remain sealed until the owner produces the necessary documents and until it is verified who granted permission for the construction.
The KSU reiterated its stand to monitor and act against any illegal construction in the city, especially those carried out without following due legal procedures.
