Shillong, Jun 28: Pdengshakap Primary Health Centre (PHC) in West Jaintia Hills has been certified under the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS).
According to the NQAS assessment report, the PHC secured an overall score of 91.56 percent, meeting national certification standards. It also recorded a patient satisfaction score of 82.56 percent.
A programme held on Friday was attended by cabinet minister and local MLA Lahkmen Rymbui, Health Department officials, district administration, community leaders, healthcare workers, ASHAs and members of Village Health Committees.
Rymbui described the achievement as a matter of pride for the health centre and the community. He congratulated doctors, nurses and other stakeholders, saying the recognition was the result of their dedication, teamwork and commitment to quality healthcare.
Stressing preventive healthcare, he urged people to use services at PHCs and Sub-Centres, cooperate with government health programmes and ensure Aadhaar enrolment and access to health insurance schemes to avail benefits. He also assured continued support for strengthening healthcare infrastructure in the region.
During the programme, the Medical Officer in charge of the PHC submitted a memorandum to the MLA seeking an additional ambulance for emergency referrals, improved internet connectivity for digital health services, more nursing staff to address shortages, and posting of an additional ANM to support maternal and child healthcare, outreach and community services.
