Shillong, Jun 17: As a part of the ongoing ‘Khet Bachao Abhiyan’, awareness programmes were conducted by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) East Khasi Hills.
Since its launch on June 1, the KVK has covered 10 villages across the C&RD blocks of Mylliem, Shella Bholaganj, Khatarshnong Laitkroh, Mawphlang, and Mawsynram, providing support and resources to farmers.
Through awareness programs, workshops, and field demonstrations, KVK aims to instill the importance of sustainable farming methods and soil conservation.
The ICAR-KVK in West Garo Hills also held an awareness campaign at Makalpara village under Gambegre block where participants were enlightened on the importance of soil health management, balanced fertiliser application and sustainable farming practices.
Khet Bachao Abhiyan (Save the Farm Campaign) is a nationwide agricultural awareness and outreach campaign launched by the central government to promote balanced fertiliser use, long-term soil fertility and climate-resilient farming. The month-long campaign is being observed throughout June.
