Shillong, Jun 12: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Friday advocated for collaboration among northeastern states in trade, exports and environmental sustainability, while underscoring the need for policies tailored to the unique requirements of the region.
Speaking during an interaction between NITI Aayog officials and chief ministers of northeastern states in New Delhi, Sangma highlighted the role of externally aided projects in creating critical assets and accelerating development and said economic growth must translate into meaningful human development.
He shared Meghalaya’s vision in the form of ‘Transformation Journey 2032’ which aims to realise the goal of a Viksit Meghalaya.
Representatives from Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura also participated and deliberated on development priorities, innovations and challenges.
The interaction by Ashok Lahiri, Vice Chairperson, NITI Aayog; Members from NITI Aayog and CEO, NITI Aayog was also participated by chief secretaries and senior officers from the region.
Joram Aniya, Member NITI Aayog noted the issues and suggestions raised during the interaction and stated that NITI Aayog would continue to work closely with the concerned ministries and departments to facilitate the development of the Northeastern states.
