Shillong, Jun 9: An unidentified man, who was the victim of a hit-and-run, has died after nearly two months in hospital.
The man was struck by an unknown vehicle on April 18 at 13th Mile, Ri-Bhoi, on National Highway 6. Police were intimated of the incident by a member of the public who used the 112 emergency number.
The victim was taken to Byrnihat Primary Health Centre and then referred to NEIGRIHMS. The man had been seen in the Byrnihat area “for a prolonged period” but had no known relative.
Just after midnight on June 5 the man died while still in NEIGRIHMS and his body has been at the hospital morgue ever since. The police have so far been unsuccessful in locating relatives of the deceased.
The man is described as being between 40 and 50 years old, 5 feet 2 inches tall, of medium build, with a swarthy complexion, moustache and black hair. He was wearing a blue t-shirt and blue track pants.
