Shillong, Jun 9: The Pynursla civil sub-division has issued new road closure timings for the Laitlyngkot-Lyngkyrdem stretch of the Shillong-Dawki Road.
This stretch will be closed from 10am to 4pm and again from 10pm to 5am effective from June 11. This is in the interest of public safety, prevention of accidents and the smooth execution of construction work involving heavy machinery.
Emergency vehicles will be allowed during the closure period subject to a safety assessment and should coordinate with Pynursla Police Station on 9862251116.
Due to the upcoming monsoon, members of the public using this stretch of road have been advised to exercise extreme caution and to avoid non-essential travel during or immediately after heavy rainfall or at night. Several people have lost their lives in landslides along this route.
