Shillong, Jun 1: One Rephius Thamar was sentenced to 15 years’ rigorous imprisonment and a find of Rs 1.5 lakh after being found guilty of penetrative sexual assault of a minor.
The case goes back to 2019 when a complaint was registered at the Khliehriat Women Police Station under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act 2012.
The charge sheet was filed on August 18, 2020 and justice has now been served after Special Judge (POCSO), B Khriam, found Thamar guilty on May 6, according to a press release shared today.
