Shillong, May 12: Shillong-based IAS officer and medical doctor, Dr Joram Beda, has authored a new book that seeks to broaden contemporary discourse on one of the most fundamental questions in science and philosophy – the true nature and role of information in reality.
Titled Nature of Information: Shaping Reality, Life, and Consciousness, the book has been published by UK-based Routledge, a leading global academic publisher. Dr Beda is a 2008 batch IAS officer and an alumni of medical college JIPMER. He currently serves as Commissioner Secretary Health.
The work offers an interdisciplinary exploration of information across physics, biology, neuroscience, artificial intelligence, philosophy and consciousness studies. The book argues that information may not merely describe reality, but may act as a foundational organising principle – perhaps even the fabric of reality itself.
By drawing upon insights from multiple disciplines, the book examines the role of information in life, mind, consciousness, knowledge systems, artificial intelligence and the broader structure of reality.
The book has reached the heights of niche bestseller lists, such as the Top 10 of Amazon India’s metaphysics rankings. It has also reached highs on Rakuten Kobo, a global ebook and audiobook platform, in the metaphysics category in Peru (3), Colombia (8), Cyprus and Estonia (11), etc.
