Shillong, May 2: Stakeholders of deficit grant-in-aid schools and colleges across Meghalaya are uniting for a statewide poster campaign on May 4 to protest against the proposed Meghalaya Non-Government Schools and Colleges Employees Centralised Fund Scheme, 2026.
The stakeholders, including teaching and non-teaching employees as well as retired staff, are calling for attention on serious implications this scheme poses to their financial stability.
In a statement the stakeholders said they have unanimously rejected the proposed funding scheme, stating that it undermines the financial security of thousands of employees working in deficit grant-in-aid institutions.
Through the campaign, stakeholders are urging the government of Meghalaya to recognise and respect the legitimate rights of employees. The call is not just for serving staff but also for retired members who rely on their lifetime savings.
The stakeholders in a statement said participants will display placards and posters in their respective institutions and public spaces.
