Shillong, Apr 22: The Sohiong Circle of the Hynniewtrep Youths Council (HYC) today apprised the Chief Engineer of the Public Health Engineering Department on the inadequate water supply at Wahnongkseh through a project of the PHE Electrical Division, Mawphlang.
The HYC also urged the department to make the Main Reservoir at Laitnongkseh functional.
The HYC Sohiong Circle said the water supply at Wahnongkseh through the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) has not benefited the public due to the absence of the construction of an adequate dam by the PHE, even as they stated that the tank also has no water supply.
The HYC has alleged reckless execution of the project for the benefit of a few and not the public.
Reminding that the HYC on August 2, 2024, had submitted a letter to the Executive Engineer on the reckless execution of the project and also on using 25mm pipelines at Pyndengmawphlang that are not proper, the HYC alleged that the Mawphlang division has taken no steps to date and the project is a wastage of public money.
On the absence of the main reservoir at Laitnongkseh, the HYC said the public are facing inconvenience and the department should immediately construct one.
