Bangladesh is experiencing a major measles outbreak, with over 20,000 cases and 200 deaths reported across 58 of 64 districts.
“All fever with rash cases (suspected measles) in any age group should be reported immediately,” the order said, referencing a communication dated April 14 on the situation in Bangladesh and the risk to border districts and blocks.
The administration has told schools and Anganwadi centres (AWCs) to report any child or person with fever and rash immediately to the nearest health facility, ANM (auxiliary nurse midwife) or medical officer.
It directed close coordination with the Health Department and World Health Organisation (WHO) for timely investigation and response.
Any child suspected of having measles must be “strictly restricted from attending school/AWC until complete recovery” and advised to remain isolated at home with minimal contact to prevent further transmission, the order said.
Teachers and Anganwadi workers are to be sensitised to identify symptoms of fever with rash and promptly report such cases. “Daily vigilance should be maintained for early identification of suspected cases,” the DC stated.
Communities are being advised to avoid sending symptomatic children to schools or AWCs and to maintain isolation until fully recovered.
