Shillong, Apr 18: Serious concerns have emerged from ticket holders surrounding the West Garo Hills Auto Association’s lucky draw event, held on February 7, 2026, at the New Tura playground.
The participants who expected to receive their rightful prizes have reported a lack of communication and action from the organisers, causing dissatisfaction in the community.
Reportedly several individuals who purchased lottery tickets and were declared winners have yet to receive their prizes.
Among the pending prizes are the 5th prize, a Maruti Celerio car, and the 2nd book prize, a Scooty Ntorq. Winners have expressed frustration, stating they have presented valid tickets and made multiple follow-ups regarding their prizes but have received no satisfactory response.
The public’s dissatisfaction has prompted a formal complaint to the Superintendent of Police in Tura, highlighting the organisers’ unresponsiveness and lack of transparency. Community members fear that these events undermine trust and may reflect fraudulent practices.
The winners have demanded immediate distribution of all pending prizes and warned that legal action would be taken if matters are not resolved promptly.
