Shillong, Apr 11: Aking Nokma of Dorakgre in East Garo Hills Rikme T. Sangma has lodged another FIR against former GHADC Deputy CEM Nikman Ch Marak for influencing witness through “indirect” means.
The complaint follows her previous FIR last month of illegal appointments, forgery, and criminal conspiracy against three individuals, including Nikman, for illegal appointment of Nokma, forgery, and criminal conspiracy.
Rikme accused Nikman of making phone calls to her brother-in-law, pressuring him to arrange a meeting with her. During these conversations, it was reportedly suggested that if her brother-in-law cooperated, the newly appointed nokmas—Tantul M. Sangma and Renubala T. Sangma—would have their appointments cancelled, and relevant documents would be backdated.
The nokma stated that when she refused to meet him, he filed a counter complaint at Chokpot Police Station.
“His actions clearly show an attempt to influence witnesses, hamper and tamper with the matter after committing serious offences against me, the Aking and the community,” she said in the FIR lodged at Chiading Police Station, East Garo Hills.
She accused Nikman and his associates of harassment and interference.
Rikme has claimed that she is a recognised as the legitimate nokma of Dorakgre, officially registered and certified by the GHADC following the death of her parents, the previous nokmas. Despite this, Tantul and Renubala previously filed a complaint requesting the cancellation of her nokmaship. Their appeal was dismissed on November 28, 2025, due to insufficient evidence. Nonetheless, they were reportedly appointed as nokmas on February 27, 2026, without following the necessary procedures, leading to further allegations of misconduct and the issuance of a forged lineage record.
