Shillong, Apr 9: The newly constructed Mangsanggre Bridge was inaugurated today aimed at strengthening rural infrastructure and improving connectivity.
The bridge, constructed under a convergence of the Special Rural Works Programme (SRWP) and MGNREGA, is expected to ease transportation challenges and improve access to essential services and economic opportunities for residents of Mangsanggre and nearby villages.
The inaugural function was held at Rongsang Abagre Adhoc School playground in South West Garo Hills which was attended by MLA Miani D. Shira in the presence of South West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Anendya Raajsshre, and Assistant Commissioner & Block Development Officer Crystal R. N. Sangma.
Shira said that the project was beyond her capacity to sanction independently, but she intervened and facilitated its construction following appeals from community leaders.
Deputy Commissioner emphasised the importance of community-government collaboration. The project was completed one year ahead of schedule, reflecting strong community participation and effective coordination.
